Planning your first Skardu tour

A practical starting point for choosing your route, pace, package and arrival plan.

Start with the days you actually have

Count arrival and departure days separately from full sightseeing days. A five-day stay should leave space for transfers, time outdoors and a backup if your arrival changes. Share your starting city and any fixed onward flights with your coordinator.

Choose a pace before choosing a package

Travelling with children, a parent or a group of friends changes how much you want to fit into a day. Ask about drive times, walking involved, toilets, room sharing and the kinds of meals available. A private journey can be adapted around your group.

Look beyond the headline price

Compare the hotel category, exact vehicle, meals, guide arrangements and entry fees. Check what happens if a flight is cancelled. A package marked quote required needs a written proposal before you can compare its complete cost.

Make your route your own

Use Skardu as a base for lake visits, time in Shigar, local hosting or a longer extension into Khaplu. Share the experiences that matter to you rather than filling every day with stops. Our team can help build a coherent route.

Get a written plan

Before booking, confirm the itinerary, selected package, departure date, inclusions, exclusions and cancellation terms. Download your itinerary PDF and keep your coordinator’s contact details available offline.

Build a useful enquiry

Send your intended dates, number of travellers, room preferences and starting city together. Add two or three priorities, such as lake scenery, heritage or gentle walks, and explain anything you would prefer to avoid. If you have a budget, say what it needs to cover: the same figure means different things when flights and meals are included or excluded.

Use a simple day-by-day check

Read each proposed day as a practical sequence: wake-up location, transfer, main activity, meal arrangements and overnight stay. Identify days with both a long drive and substantial walking. Ask for one adjustment at a time so you can see how it changes the route and cost rather than comparing completely different proposals.

Confirm before the final payment

Check the named accommodation or substitution policy, room occupancy, vehicle arrangements and contact responsible for your arrival. Save the current itinerary, payment record and cancellation terms together. If any service is still on request, ask when it becomes confirmed and what happens if it cannot be supplied.
